
Stromboli
Preheat oven to 400° and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Divide the pizza dough into 2 or 3 equal portions. Roll or stretch them into rectangles, about 1/4 inch thick. Load 1 to 1 1/2 cups of the fillings (see below) over the surface of the rectangle, keeping a 1-inch boarder. Roll the dough along the long edge and pinch it closed. Put it on the baking sheet with the seam side down. Cut 3=4 small slits on top, brush with an oil or egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes. Allow to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Layer the fillings:
- sauce
- cheese
- meat
- vegetables
- a little more cheese
Notes
Precooking vegetables releases moisture and prevents sogginess.
Sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, or parmesan cheese after brushing the tops for more flavor.
