Sauerkraut Layered Casserole

Prepare layers

Chop:

   - 1 onion

   - 1 green pepper


Cook onions and green pepper in skillet with:

   - 1 lb ground beef


Drain grease and season with:

   - 1 tsp salt

   - 1/2 tsp garlic powder

   - 1/2 tsp celery salt


Meanwhile, cook until almost done:

   - 1 lb noodles


Mix until smooth:

   - 1 10.75 oz can of tomato soup

   - 1 can of water


Grate:

   - 2 cups cheese


Drain:

   - 30 oz sauerkraut


Measure:

   - 3/4 cup brown sugar


Grease a 9 x 13 pan.

Preheat the oven to 350°.



Assemble layers in the 9 x 13 pan.

  1. Sauerkraut

  2. Brown sugar

  3. Noodles

  4. Meat mixture

  5. Tomato soup mixture (get the sides, too)

  6. Cheese

Bake for 35-45 minutes and let sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Can be made in advance and refrigerated - increase cooking time 20-30 minutes.
