Candied Sweet Potatoes

Put into the 5 quart pot (or larger):

   - up to 6 sweet potatoes

   - water enough to mostly cover the potatoes

   - 1/2 tsp salt


Cover and bring to a boil. Once it boils, cook for about 30 minutes or until the potatoes are fork tender.


Allow the potatoes to cool for a couple of minutes; peel and slice them into 1/2 inch slices. Put them into the baking dish and heat the oven to 350°.


In the 2 quart saucepan, mix together over medium heat:

   - 1 cup brown sugar

   - 1/2 cup butter

   - 1/2 cup water

   - 1 tsp salt


When butter is melted, sugar is dissolved, and sauce is bubbly, pour the sauce over the potatoes.


Bake for an hour, basting the potatoes with the sauce occasionally.
