Beans (Instant Pot)

Soak for at least 8 hours:

   - 1-2 cups beans

   - enough water to cover by 2 inches

Drain and rinse beans.

Put beans into Instant Pot and use fresh water to cover by 2 inches. (Do not exceed the max fill line.) 

Put on the lid and make sure the vent is sealed.

Pressure cook:

   pinto beans: 20 minutes

   black beans: 25 minutes

   kidney or navy beans: 30 minutes 

Allow pressure to release naturally for 20 minutes.

Season to taste.


Subtract 5 minutes cook time for firmer beans (salad). Add 5 minutes for softer beans (soups).

An onion, jalapeno, or other seasoning may be added before cooking.
